BRISBANE, Australia – After Nick Kyrgios and Novak Djokovic wowed the crowd in doubles on a record-crowd Monday night in Brisbane, they were back to their bread and butter on Tuesday.

Kyrgios returned to action for the first time in an age but faces a huge server who has come up while he was away. And it couldn’t have been closer, and he played well. But there was concern about pain in his arm even if he soldiered through it.

Djokovic faced an Australian wild card, and posted a fairly routine win.

In Hong Kong, both Denis Shapovalov and Gabriel Diallo were in action in the first round of singles. Shapovalov went out quickly to Nishikori, and looked very under the weather.
