A small week, with a lot of players defending their countries’ colours in Billie Jean King Cup, and others skipping it altogether after the end of the Sunshine Double grind and the start of the clay-court season.
Nevertheless, there is a rankings update. A brief one, at that. There are no changes in the top 50.
But that will change this coming week with the 500 in Stuttgart, a 250 in Rouen and a WTA 125 in Oeiras.

Olivia Gadecki (AUS): No. 98 =========> No. 92 (Gadecki helps cement her spot in the Roland Garros main draw with a semifinal at the $100K ITF in Zaragoza, Spain).
Anastasia Zakharova (RUS): No. 127 =========> No. 107 (The 23-year-old Russian wins the $100K in Zaragoza over American-turned-Spaniard Kaitlin Queevedo in the final. She’s just one spot away from her career high reached last November).
Solana Sierra (ARG): No. 119 =========> No. 109 (Already at a career high last week. Sierra does even better this week after winning the $60K clay event in Bellinzona, Switzerland. Sierra won a WTA 125 in Antalya, Turkey the previous week, so she’s on a 10-match winning streak).

Moyuka Uchijima (JPN): No. 51 =========> No. 60 (Uchijima sacrificed all the points she was defending from the Zaragoza ITF a year ago to fly all the way home to Japan and play Billie Jean King Cup. Her win over Marina Stakusic of Canada on the final day was a keey to Japan pulling out the win – and the qualificationn for the September final. So she’d probably say it was worth it. Uchijima had been at No. 143 before that title, and went on to win 17 of her next 18 matches after that one, including three high-level ITF titles. She then went on to quality for the main draw at Roland Garros and made the second round – cutting her ranking in half in just six weeks. So she has a lot to defend coming up).

Jessica Bouzas Maneiro (ESP): No. 69 =========> No. 73 (Maneiro, too, gave up defending points to play Billie Jean King Cup. But she made it worth it – even if no points were earned – by beating Beatriz Haddad Maia, and then posting a big win over Linda Nozkova as Spain beat favored Czechia to advance to the finals in September)
Anna Bondar (HUN): No. 91 =========> No. 98 (Bondar will probably still squeeze into Roland Garros. But with all the injury protected rankings that are popping up more and more, she’s still probably cutting it close. She didn’t defend her final at the Bellinzona ITF).
