Alexander Zverev vs. Daniil Medvedev is a matchup that has had as many editions as just about any recent matchup between top players.

The Halle semifinal on Saturday will be the 20th of their careers, and Medvedev holds a 12-7 lead.

He’s won the last three, six of the last seven and 11 of the last 13 after Zverev won five of the first six, going back to 2016. Only two have been on clay – Monte Carlo and Rome in 2023, both won by Medvedev. And none of them have been on grass.

It’s been a year and a half, though – not since their fairly epic semi at the 2024 Australian Open, won by Medvedev after being down two sets to none and into a third-set tiebreak.
