–
For the fourth time, Taylor Fritz is the king of Eastbourne.
The question remaining is whether he can take that momentum and make a serious run at Wimbledon.
The last two times, he made the quarterfinals losing to Rafael Nadal in 2022, and Lorenzo Musetti last year.
Not too many top players played this past week, so Ugo Humbert is the only mover – either way – in the top 20.

(First-round Wimbledon opponents in brackets)

Tallon Griekspoor (NED): No. 34 ============> No. 29 (Griekspoor won his third career title – his second on grass – at the Mallorca tournament He knocked out two Canadians – Gabriel Diallo and Félix Auger-Aliassime – en route)([PR] Jenson Brooksby)
Joao Fonseca (BRA): No. 57 ============> No. 54 (Fonseca is learning quickly on the grass. And after stopping for darkness in his second-round match against Taylor Fritz, he went out 7-5 in the third set the following day)(Jacob Fearnley)
Learner Tien (USA): No. 67 ============> No. 62 (Tien made the quarterfinals in Mallorca)(Nishesh Basavareddy).
Corentin Moutet (FRA): No. 83 ============> No. 69 (A heartbreaker of a loss in the Mallorca final, after Moutet had a great run and gave Tallon Griekspoor all he could handle. He’s still looking for his first title)(Francisco Comesana).

Jenson Brooksby (USA): No. 149 ============> No. 101 (Brooksby probably didn’t expect to make a run at Eastbourne, after he lost in the final round of qualifying. But he got in as a lucky loser and ran that all the way to the final. He’s just 18 points away from a return to the top 100)([31] Tallon Griekspoor).

Daniel Evans (GBR): No. 170 ============> No. 154 (After losing in the first round of Eastbourne a year ago, Evans reached the quarterfinals this time around. He has posted some decent wins on the grass: Tiafoe at Queen’s Club, Kecmanovic and Tommy Paul at Eastbourne)([WC] Jay Clarke).
Dino Prizmic (CRO): No. 173 ============> No. 159 (Prizmic reached the final of the Milan Challenger, a couple of weeks after winning a similar one in Bratislava).

Bernard Tomic (AUS): No. 248 ============> No. 214 (As much as Tomic seems to have a hate-hate relationship with his sport, he continues to grind every week. Last week, he qualified and won a round in Mallorca, to give his ranking a bump. Crazy: it was his first main draw since Delray Beach in Feb. 2020, and his first ATP level win since Atlanta in 2019. He did qualify a the Australian Open in 2021).
Marco Cecchinato (ITA): No. 437 ============> No. 300 (The former world No. 16 – back in 2019) has been very low key in recent years. Now 32, he wins the Challenger in Milan, posting five straighth straight-set wins and gets his ranking up into more palatable territory).

Gabriel Diallo (CAN) (No. 40)
Joao Fonseca (BRA) (No. 54)
Leaner Tien (USA) (No. 62)
Vit Kopriva (CZE) (No. 78)
Ethan Quinn (USA) (No. 89)
Brandon Holt (USA) (No. 99)

Gael Monfils (FRA): No. 42 ============> No. 48 (Monfils was a semifinalist in Mallorca last year, but didn’t play this year)([18] Ugo Humbert).

Alejandro Tabilo (CHI): No. 60 ============> No. 84 (Tabilo won the Mallorca event a year ago. But he’s out because of an ongoing abdominal issue and didn’t try to defend his title. He’s out of Wimbledon, too, where he’s defending third-round points).

Aleksandar Vukic (AUS): No. 80 ============> No. 93 (Vukic qualified at Eastbourne – in fact, he beat Jenson Brooksby in the final round, who ended up getting in as a lucky loser and making the final. A year ago, Vukic did a similar thing; he got in as a lucky loser, posted three impressive wins (including against Nishioka, the player who beat him in qualifying) and made it to the semis. But he was unable to defend those points)(Chun-Hsin Tseng).
Federico Agustin Gomez (ARG): No. 139 ============> No. 161 (Gomez won a Challenger in Trieste a year ago, but didn’t effort to defend his title. He has another one coming up for defence during the second week of Wimbledon. Instead, he tried his luck in Wimbledon qualifying but lost in the second round)
Sebastian Ofner (AUT): No. 115 ============> No. 165 (Ofner had a sweet draw in Mallorca a year ago and made the final. He played it this year, but retired in the third set of his first-round match against Mariano Navone)(Hamad Medjedovic).

Max Purcell (AUS): No. 166 ============> No. 319 (Purcell is currently serving a doping suspension, so the points he earned making the final at Eastbourne a year ago fall off).
