Defending champion Barbora Krejcikova, seeded No. 17, was quite capable of beating No. 10 Emma Navarro. But she ran out of gas.

Clara Tauson, if she was having a great day, could give 2022 champion Elena Rybakina everything she can handle. And she did – and more.

And No. 19 Liudmila Samsonova, also on her day, could overpower No. 16 Daria Kasatkina. And she did.

So in the end only Swiatek was able to escape either unscathed or unbeaten.
