Leylah Fernandez had a challenging one in the second round with a clash against No. 2 seed Elena Rybakina.

They met twice this summer on the hard courts with Fernandez winning in a third-set tiebreak in D.C. on the way to the title. A few weeks later, in Cincinnati, Fernandez won again, coming back from a set down again.

Should have been a barnburner, especially as Rybakina has a finals participation on the line. In the end, it was pretty routine.
