Top-ranked Japanese player Kei Nishikori (ranked No. 17), has added a well-known former player to his coaching team.
It’s Hall of Famer Michael Chang, now 41.
Said Nishikori on his Facebook page:
“Excited to announce an addition to the team. Michael Chang will join us in 2014. Dante (Bottini) will remain the full time coach. We have already spent the last 2 weeks working hard and are getting ready for 2014.”
The ATP reported Chang will be with Nishikori “around 20 weeks a year”.
It’s not the first time the 23-year-old has added a wise tennis voice to the mix.
Experienced (and successful) coach Brad Gilbert joined for the 2011 season, under agreement to be with Nishikori for 15 events.
