
Tommy Haas, who turns 40 April 3, made his retirement official Thursday night in an on-court ceremony at the BNP Paribas Open, for which he serves as tournament director.
Haas hasn’t played since losing in the first round of the Hamburg tournament, nearly eight months ago.
The man who may be remembered more for his inspiring injury comebacks than his 15 titles and career-high No. 2 ranking returned, one more time, after shoulder surgery to say goodbye on his own terms.
