Alexis Galarneau, the youngest member of the 2022 Davis Cup squad, will make his debut and is in the best form.
–
On Monday in Toronto, lifelong friends Félix Auger-Aliassime and Alexis Galarneau will team up together for the first time on the ATP Tour.
It’s a bucket-list moment, the culmination of a dream that began back when they first met as little kids back in 2008.
Auger-Aliassime is already top 20, a precocious talent who hit early. Galarneau, 17 months older, went the college route and only now is starting his pro career.
Given the state of tennis during the pandemic, it’s a pretty challenging time to debut.
We wrote about their enduring friendship – and their mutual support society – in this piece in Monday’s Toronto Star.
First FAA win: under-12 Nationals
According to Galarneau, this pic was taken the first time Auger-Aliassime ever defeated him – in the final of the national U12s in Calgary in 2010. Prior to that, the older Galarneau had owned him.
It is … anything but a limp-fish drive-by. LOL

(Massive thanks to Chad Lominick – a.k.a. @CCSmooth13 – for use of the photo of the pair, taken during practice at the Citi Open in Washington, D.C. last week).
All-Canadians in tough in Toronto
The team we’ve dubbed #Félixis isn’t the first young Canadian duo to take on the Tour in Toronto.
A couple of other pairs came before them. And if there’s one commonality, it’s that all of them got brutal draws.
Here’s a look back.
