Manolo Santana hospitalized in Marbella

Spanish legend Manolo Santana, who turns 80 in May, is in hospital in Marbella, Spain, according to Mondo Deportivo.

Santana attended the Davis Cup tie against Great Britain last weekend in Marbella.

The court on which the tie was played is named after him.

But on Monday night, he went into the hospital ahead of what the newspaper reports was a planned surgery. A ceremony slated for Friday to honor him as a “native son” of the town of Malaga was postponed.

Santana has a history of heart problems. The newspaper indicates Santana may also have pneumonia.
