First final of Fichman’s comeback

Sharon Fichman was away from the courts for more than two years, after reaching the top 50 in doubles (and No. 77 in singles).

She’s back since Quebec City last month. And in her fifth event, the 27-year-old reaches the final of the $60,000 ITF event in Saguenay, Quebec.

Fichman and American Maria Sanchez teamed to win the WTA Tour title in Auckland in 2014.

They play again this week in Toronto.

Canadians Fichman, Rebecca Marino and Milos Raonic were born within weeks of each other, all in Dec. 1990.

Raonic soldiers on; Marino and Fichman have both retired and returned.
