The Canadians are BACK – well, as back as they can be with so few tournaments available they can actually compete in.
But the focus is on the US Open, where four men and one woman are straight into the main singles draw.
Milos Raonic is on a roll, the kids have work to do, and ATP activist Vasek Pospisil is playing his first competitive match since the shutdown.
Meanwhile, Genie Bouchard is missing her first US Open in years. With the precipitous drop in her ranking, and the lack of a qualifying event (she wouldn’t have gotten in anyway), she ended up at a WTA 125K in Prague this week.
With a 128 draw (another 125K in Austria this week was cancelled almost before they even had time to announce it), she was able to squeeze in there.
But she’s already out. After a first-set bagel, Bouchard opened the second with a break. Then got broken twice to go down 1-3. Then came the rain. She got it to a tiebreak but ultimately went down.
