That includes No. 1 seeds Ashleigh Barty on the women’s side, and Novak Djokovic on the men’s side.

On the Canadian side, Denis Shapovalov got Louis Armstrong Stadium for a late afternoon clash and made quick work of it.

Vasek Pospisil, who hasn’t had much of a summer, got Fabio Fognini as a first-round opponent and … didn’t make quick work of it.

But he got through.
