Both Madrid and Rome are up to 96-player singles draws, which previously had been limited to Indian Wells and Miami.

That basically makes it a two-week tournament although with the qualifying starting Monday, the main draw doesn’t begin until later in the week.

But it also makes these two pre-Roland Garros events a serious grind.
