After a successful weekend in Vancouver for Laver Cup, Félix Auger-Aliassime got back to the ATP Tour – across the Pacific.

And he got a pretty tough welcome, as he faced No. 3 seed Holger Rune.

If Auger-Aliassime’s tennis is in a rough patch – so is Rune’s physical state in a similar patch. But Rune is through in straight sets.

Also in action in Beijing: debutant Carlos Alcaraz, No. 2 Daniil Medvedev, No. 4 Stefanos Tsitsipas and No. 6 Jannik Sinner in what is an absolutely stacked 500 event.
