Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner were in the same pool during the group stages. And so faced each other – with Sinner winning – as both went on to qualify for the semifinals.
And so, they met again in the final – clearly the two most in-form players of the week.
Sinner, the home favorite, had the edge there as his paisans would waste no opportunity to get under Djokovic’s skin (even though Djokovic is very popular there and speaks credible Italian).
But there was always less of a chance that Djokovic will be fazed than there will that he will be fueled. Djokovic made a few tactical adjustments from his tight loss in the group stages, and essentially routined the future superstar.
In doubles, Ram and Salisbury impressively defended their title.
(Turin is six hours ahead of EST).
