Late wild card Taylor Fritz (not a clay-court guy) and German Jan-Lennard Struff, whose aggressive game is not “clay-like” and yet very effective on it, were the two left standing – and shivering for Sunday’s final in Munich. And it’s the 33-year-old German who wins his first career ATP title.
In Budapest, the ATP’s return was affected a fair bit by rain delays and resultant doubleheaders. So it’s probably not that surprising that the finalists were both somewhat of a surprise.
In Barcelona, some familiar faces from last week’s final in Monte Carlo. And it was Casper Ruud’s turn this time around.
(Barcelona and Munich are 6 hours ahead of EDT; Bucharest is 7 hours ahead).
