it’s the second day of the tournament in Prague and Iasi, and it’s the return of Team Bucie – longtime doubles champions and besties Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Lucie Safarova.

Safarova, who retired in 2019 and quickly had two kids, is home and pondering (possibly), a return in doubles. She’s not the only one; Russian Elena Vesnina has gone that route and is even using her protected ranking to play in the Olympics next week. And the two picked up right where they left off five years ago.

In that vein, Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova, who broke up their long partnership at the end of 2023, are playing together at home for exactly that purpose – to bring home gold.

Krejcikova, who has barely had an opportunity to breathe since winning Wimbledon a week ago, is not playing singles.
