Ben Shelton vs Denis Shapovalov was a reprise of their match at Wimbledon, which was a pretty entertaining five-setter in the third round, won by Shelton.
It ended in absolutely drama, though, as Shapovalov was defaulted on match point for Shelton for unsportsmanlike.
Another good one later was between No. 1 seed Andrey Rublev and No. 5 Frances Tiafoe, who is on his home turf.
The two have played twice in the last year – both in the U.S. Tiafoe won in four sets at the US Open last year, and he also won an absolute barnburner in the final of the clay-court event in Houston this spring. And he’s now 3-1 – all in the U.S.

I’m guessing that the rules for regular ATP tournaments & the Olympic games are different because Shapo was defaulted for dropping an audible obscenity in Washington while Djoko was not for doing the same thing in his semi-final in Paris. The commentators in Washington said that Shapo would lose all the money & points he had won in the tournament. Is that a new rule because I don’t remember that happening before? Personally, I find that a bit harsh. Losing a match seems like enough of a penalty for swearing.
Yes, you’re guessing 🙂
