MORE TENNIS THAN YOU'LL EVER NEED

WTA Tour – Friday, May 23, 2025 final results

You hope for more from a WTA 500. But they’re not all created equal.

And the week before a major is an extra added challenge.

And so the Strasbourg semis had Elena Rybakina, No. 9 seed Beatriz Haddad Maia, Danielle Collins and No. 8 seed Liudmila Samsonova.

Not terrible. But it’s hard to know how good the matches are going to be with both Haddad Maia and Samsonova inconsistent, to say the least.

In Rabat, only No. 2 seed Camila Osorio survived to make the final four. And she went out.

Ajla Tomljanovic retired against countrywoman Maya Joint. But the two will meet again early next week in the first round of Roland Garros. Because the draw gods are like that.

(Strasbourg is six hours ahead of EDT; Rabat is five hours ahead).
