The London final was super-intriguing as mighty qualifier Tatjana Maria’s slice goes up against the momentum of Amanda Anisimova.
Anisimova, who hits a hard, flat deep ball as a general rule, has hands and instincts that are a bit of a step up from some of the other hard hitters Maria has played so far.
But it wasn’t nearly enough, as Maria became the oldest woman to win a WTA Tour singles title.
And a shutout to doubles finalist Anna Danilina – she made the Roland Garros women’s doubles final and played there on Sunday. After which a quick fly to London and another final, with a different partner, on a different surface.
(‘s-Hertogenbosch is 6 hours ahead of EDT; London is 5 hours ahead)
