And a quick turnaround for Toronto champion Ben Shelton, who was late on Thursday night, and is up Sunday night after getting a first-round bye. Shelton caught a break when his opponent retired in the second set.

And Canadian Denis Shapovalov was the last of the Canucks to step on the singles court, against lucky loser Luca Nardi. And it appeared there were knee issues, and he went out. And also pulled out of the doubles.
