If Lorenzo Musetti wanted to make it to Turin, he had to beat Novak Djokovic.
He was 1-8 against Djokovic, with his one win coming in Monte Carlo in 2023, on red clay.
Djokovic had had NO trouble with the Italian on hard courts.
But if it seemed there was a lot on the line, Musetti played brilliantly in defeat as Djokovic just squeezed past him.
After which he heard (if he hadn’t known before) that Djokovic would not be playing the ATP Finals. And so he makes it anyway.
