Sports Business Journal reports that per recent tax filings, the USTA and the USTA National Tennis Center posted a $23 million loss in 2016.
The previous year, that number was $19.8 million to the good.
Half that gap was due to depreciation and amortization hikes related to the major renovation project.
Compensation was up $4 million, travel costs up 54 per cent and “tennis event production” expenses (Fed/Davis Cup) up 25 per cent.
Revenue was down slightly, from $265 to $260 million.
But no tag sale is necessary; net assets for the USTA and the NTC check in at $355 million.
