Venus settles car crash lawsuit

Some 17 months after a car crash Venus Williams was involved in resulted in the death of Jerome Barson, the case was closed Nov. 15 after an undisclosed settlement.

Barson’s estate filed on June, 30, 2017, three weeks after the fatal Florida crash and a week after Barson’s death.

Both Williams and Barson’s wife, who was driving, were cleared of wrongdoing.

Barson’s estate had dropped a settlement proposal on Williams Sept. 10.

As recently as six weeks before that, they were still going back and forth in court about the plaintiff’s desire to have Williams’s mobile phone records examined.
