“Plus-90s” ready to rock in La Jolla

Simona Halep and Naomi Osaka are pretty great now.

But will they still be rocking in their 10th decade?

Next week in La Jolla, Calif. at the USTA National Women’s Senior
Hard Court Championships, there will be six women in the 90-and-over category.

That’s singles, not doubles. But they’re all playing doubles as well.

The tournament has categories from 50+ to 90+ for the women (10-year increments) and 60+ to 85+ for the men (five-year increments). 

Doris Lutz (pictured) is the defending 90s singles champ and co-No. 1 seed. She went undefeated in a four-woman round-robin a year ago.
