It’s pretty crazy that the women’s matches on the stadium Tuesday feature Serena Williams, Venus Williams and Naomi Osaka.

And it would be no shock at all if at least two of them lost.

Actually, they all lost. And there were no media obligations to be met.

The Serena vs Raducanu match was advertised as being Monday night. Which, given these are the last tournaments for Williams before her retirement, no doubt led to a pretty significant surge of ticket-buying as there was in Toronto.

Except … they postponed it to tonight. There must be some pretty unhappy people out there. And rightly so. And it was a bit of a mess on her side, too as she was bageled in the second set by Emma Raducanu.

In Vancouver at the WTA 125, Eugenie Bouchard played her first singles match since March, 2021. She lost 6-2, 6-2 to Arianna Hartono of the Netherlands. But the key is how the shoulder feels tomorrow morning.
