He made it through in an oddly compelling upset over No. 3 seed Borna Gojo.

Most of the rest of the matches are for the true diehards.

But one intriguing one pitted Fabian Marozsan of Hungary – who impressed so much last week in Rome – against up-and-coming Chinese player Jerry Shang, tennis-raised at the IMG Academy.

The kid won – and tennis proved, once again, that it’s a “what have you done for me THIS WEEK” sport. Merciless.
