A mixture of second rounds, first rounds interrupted and first rounds that still hadn’t begun dotted the Thursday landscape at Wimbledon.

Two Canadians who won their openers Wednesday were right back at it as Denis Shapovalov got through without too much stress. But Milos Raonic, whose shoulder acted up again (as it did in his first tournament back) was denied by Tommy Paul.

He gave it his all. But it just wasn’t enough.

It will be interesting to see where he goes from here. Because beyond that he played well. He moved well. It was an impressive comeback in that sense.
