The first round-robin win by Novak Djokovic over Holger Rune cemented his spot at the top of the heap for the year-end rankings.

Now, there’s a tournament to win. And on Tuesday he faced perhaps the most challenging of the players in his group – No. 4 seed Jannik Sinner. And after a marathon in which the two both won 109 points, Sinner prevailed.

The two Sunday losers, Holger Rune and Stefanos Tsitsipas, played to try to stay alive in the tournament, basically. But Tsitsipas pulled the plug after just three games, with an apparent back injury.
