Mary Pierce out of French Fed Cup team

A year ago, Mary Pierce became assistant Fed Cup captain under Yannick Noah.

Now, Pierce is gone and the team’s leadership will be all-male as Thierry Champion (the French Federation’s director of high performance) takes over Pierce’s job.

Two months ago, Pierce was unsure of her future even if her name had been circulating as the potential new captain. She had had discussed it with the players, she told Tennis Magazine.

She said new federation president Bernard Giudicelli told her he was the one who was going to make those decisions.
